Internet: connecting to the internet in PSBA conference rooms

Wireless / WiFi

  1. Search the available wireless networks on your laptop. Open the wireless network management application that your laptop is using. Wireless icons usually have a series of three curves the gradually get larger. On PC using the Microsoft Operating System there normally is a wireless icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Double click the wireless icon. On a Apple the wireless icon will be in the top right hand corner of the screen.
  2. Select the "PSBA Conference Rooms" wireless network.
  3. Request the network password from the PSBA office call 503-725-2312 or email.

Hard wires internet connection

  1. Determine the number of the data jack in the conference that you want to connect to the internet. The data jacks are the two jack on the bottom of the data/telecom jacks. The data jacks are below the phone jacks. The data jack number will have a D in it.
  2. If the conference room you want to use is on the same floor as your office contact the IT contact in your organization and ask them to make the data jack live in the conference room you have reserved. If you conference room you want to use is on a different floor you or your IT contact should contact the PSBA office.
IT Contacts: You can route your DHCP internet signal from your router in the server room to the appropriate jack in the conference room if your networking equipment is on the same floor as the conference room you are trying to use.  If you are create a hard-wire connection to the internet in a conference room live on a floor that is different from the floor your networking equipment is on you can use one of the static IP addresses assigned to your company and contact PSBA office to make a jack live with a static IP internet connection.
